WELCOME

Missionary work for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints started in Chile in 1851 when Parley P. Pratt and his companion arrived. Unfortunately, they were unsuccessful because of the language barrier and strife in the country. But, their hope of a thriving mission in Chile became a reality 100 years later when missionaries were sent from Argentina.

President Gordon B. Hinckley said, "I prophecy with solemnity that the Church in Chile will continue growing and soon will reach one million members."

The Chile Santiago East Mission is the smallest (geographically) proselyting mission in the Church--20 miles long and 7 miles wide. There are 3 million residents, 10 stakes, 55 wards and 2 branches in this small geographical area.

Madeleine is thrilled to serve in this mission. The scripture theme she chose for her time as a missionary is: "We talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins." 2 Nephi 25:26
